FAQ
-
What is the difference between a Doula and a Midwife?
Midwives are skilled in the medical safety of low-risk births while Doulas are skilled in supporting those births emotionally, physically, and educationally. The role of a doula is completely nonmedical while the role of a midwife is medical. For example, a Doula will help you feel grounded, Calm and provide hands on pain management. Your midwife will asses you and babies well being medically by taking heart tones, be available to checking your cervix for progress of labor and handle an emergencies that may arise in birth. Doulas and midwives can make a great team in supporting you and your partner in birth.
